Datsuns were produced by Nissan. The Datsun brand was founded around 1931 and Datsun cars stopped being made in 1986. The Datsun is based on the first Japanese vehicle which was called the DAT. The name Datsun came about in the early 1930s - the new car which was smaller than the DAT was called the Datson. A few years later Nissan changed the name to Datsun.
The most famous Datsun cars are sports cars - the Fairlady Roadster and the Fairlady coupe. In the 50s through to the 70s the Datsun was well known as a stylish, sports car.
