LTI dates back to 1919 when the Carbodies Ltd company was formed. The company built coaches and was run by Bobby Jones in Coventry. Carbodies became well known for the coach-building services it offered and the company worked with car brands such as Daimler, Rolls Royce, Jaguar and Ford. In the 1940s the business expanded into producing taxis, mainly London taxis. Following various changes of hands, in 1984 a new company was set up to produce taxis - this was London Taxis International, or LTI. LTI has manufactured over 10,000 taxis over the years. LTI models include the: Fairway Driver, Fairway Driver-Plus, Fairway 95, TXI , TXII and the TX4.
