The Marcos car brand was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and Frank Costin. They used the first three letters from their surnames to name the company. Costin had started out in the aviation industry and this was reflected in the designs of early Marcos cars. The early Marcos cars used wood laminates for their chassis.
In 1966 Marcos introduced the Mini Marcos, which had a fibre glass body. The car was very successful at Le Mans that year. In 1991 the Mini Marcos was re-launched with some small alterations. Popular Marcos models include the Mantara, GT Le Mans and the Mantis.
