Carlo Maserati built the first Maserati car in 1926, which also bore the famous Maserati Trident symbol, at the then-headquarters in Via de Pepoli, Italy. Following this the Maserati company was sold to the Orsi Group and moved to Modena. The Maserati car company has changed hands many times.
In 1986, the company was taken over by Citroen. Then, in 1993 Fiat bought 100% of the shares in Maserati and sold them on to Ferrari in 1997.
