TVR Cars manufactures sports cars and is based in Lancashire in the UK. The company was set up by Trevor Wilkinson in 1947. The business was originally called Trevcar Motors. But was renamed TVR in 1954. The first TVR car was produced in 1949.
In 2004, the TVR company was sold to a Russian man - Nikolai Smolenski. He said that he intended that TVR would remain a British company. However, in 2006 he announced that part of the TVR car manufacturing would move to Italy. There were mass demonstrations against this in London and Smolenski sold the company in 2007.
