AC Cars is one of the oldest independent British car brands. The first AC car - a three-wheeler named the Autocarrier - was produced in 1904. AC Cars made their first four-wheeled car in 1913. In 1986 the company was sold and was taken over under joint ownership by Ford and Autokraft Limited. The most recent AC model, produced in 1996, was the AC Ace. Production of the later cars has been very limited with less than a hundred of some models being produced. AC models include the AC Aceca, AC Cobra, AC 427 Cobra, AC 27 and the AC 289.
