Automotive AB. Koenigsegg cars are high-performance vehicles. The Koenigsegg company was founded in 1994. The company was set up with the express intention of developing a "world class supercar". The original Koenigsegg was based on Formula One cars and was a hard-topped two-seater.
The first Koenigsegg car was sold in 2002 at the Geneva Autoshow. Four more Koenigsegg cars were developed that year. Koenigsegg vehicles have broken a number of speed records including the record for the fastest road-legal car in the world in 2005. This record was broken by the Koenigsegg CCR.
